Here are 4 phrases to use as a grateful listener
We all know that one of the major keys to a smooth transaction is good communication. It’s something that everyone in real estate strives to provide, and our customers expect from us. If you’ve worked with our teams before, you know we pride ourselves on the customer experience.
However, we’re always looking for ways to be even better for you and your clients. So, when we saw this list of phrases to become better listeners and communicators, we just had to share it with the people we want to talk to the most – you!
“What I’m hearing you say is…” The most engaged people know it’s important to understand what a speaker is saying, not simply to reply to their words. Using this phrase is a testament that you’re actively listening. Plus, it presents the perfect opportunity for the other person to clarify vague points. On top of this, it promotes a deeper connection and clarity between both parties.
“You were right. I was wrong.” These words may be hard to utter, but they can distinguish between success and failure. Clear the air in these situations by admitting when you’re wrong. It will help dissolve conflicts while deepening the trust and respect in a relationship—try to think of them as a cleansing ritual for any conversational missteps.
“Can you help me with something?” Teamwork makes the dream work, right? Requesting assistance when needed can be a two-fold blessing because it lightens your burden while making the other person feel valued and is a gentle reminder that we’re all in this together.
“Thank you for doing this.” A simple thank you, when expressed genuinely, can make someone’s day, and with the world rapidly moving toward emojis and digital hearts, take a moment to pause and appreciate others with genuine acknowledgment and gratitude. These gestures sow the seeds of positivity and inspire a culture of appreciation.
These four phrases may seem minor in the grand scheme of things, but their impact can be profound. Put them in action and let us know how they work. We’re here to talk to you anytime.
