4 tips to shoot better video this season (and beyond)

During a season known for making lists and checking them twice, we wanted to share some video tips with you. Whether starting video marketing is on your resolution list or you’re looking for ways to take your game to the next level, we hope this is a nice list for you!

Don’t be afraid to be creative. A great video draws people in and engages them in ways other media can’t. However, you must be sure you have some beautiful, captivating shots to do just that. Think outside the box and experiment. After all, you want your video to be memorable for all the right reasons. If you need an extra push, go live the first few times so that you cannot feel the pressure of having to “re-record” several times.”

Focus on lighting. Your videos don’t have to be professional quality – in fact, authenticity is what wins in this space. But you do want them to shine. Invest in a ring light – and always be aware of lighting, no matter where you’re shooting. One more tip in this area, specifically for outside shoots, especially this winter: Be ready to adjust if you don’t have a sunny day. When it comes to exterior shots, consider shooting on a clear, sunny day for better outdoor footage.

Be sure to edit. Editing is one of those vital aspects of video creation that doesn’t get the attention it deserves. In addition, feel free to do multiple takes and be sure you have enough B-Roll (secondary footage) when needed. Create a YouTube page. Producing a good video is only half the job. You want to make sure you showcase your clips in a multitude of ways – and posting your videos to a YouTube channel allows you to do all of them. Not only is it a place for your great videos to live, you can easily share your video with others on social media, your own website and other places using one of the world’s most popular websites.
