3 reasons not to wait too long to buy
It’s finally happening. The Federal Reserve is signaling intentions to cut its interest rate later this month, which means mortgage rates should keep falling downward, too. This, of course, is a welcome development for buyers, sellers and real estate professionals.
Why? Because it’s what we’ve been waiting for all of 2024. Though this may only be the start of the descent for the Fed rate – and mortgage rates, too – here are a few reasons why buying sooner rather than later could be the right move for you.
Any season can be the right one for you. There’s a reason many of us in the business are saying that we hope Fall 2024 feels like spring. That’s the traditional busy season in real estate, but we’re also here to say any time can be a good time to buy or sell. Last year, Realtor.com claimed the first week of October was the best time to buy a home. Why? “Early fall is generally the sweet spot for buyers who can capitalize on that confluence of factors to have a wider variety of options at a more reasonable price.”
Home values should continue to rise in most places. We know that most buyers and sellers have a magic number for rates to get to before they’re ready to buy or list, but our teams are here to say flexibility may be key. Consider a quote from a real estate agent addressing this very topic. “The market has proven that increases in interest rates have done little to dampen price increases. The longer people wait, while the amount they can qualify for increases, so do the prices of the homes.”
You could face more competition soon. Here’s another factor to consider relating to increased buying power: It could lead to more competition. While more listings should come on the market as rates drop, plenty of buyers are on the sidelines for the same reasons you may be. Beating the rush in your area may be your best move, especially if you spot the ideal home to make your dreams come true.
When you work with our teams for your title and closing services, rest assured we have your best interests in mind. Whether you decide to buy or sell very soon or stay patient, the choice is yours. No matter what you decide, our teams are always ready to be the title company you – or your clients pick. Reach out to us anytime!
