7 topic ideas to kickstart your efforts on video this year

In past years, we’ve used a January blog to talk about the importance of including video in your marketing. However, our teams thought it was time for something different. While an authentic video presence will remain key well into 2025 and beyond, we know that the hardest part is deciding what to talk about. That’s why we wanted to provide some actual video ideas that can be put into action.

Since we could all use a little help in the new year, our teams settled on seven prompts that are guaranteed to get your creativity flowing. We can’t wait to see the masterpieces you produce with these ideas.

  1. “New Year, New Home.” Share tips for starting the year off right with a new house, talk about how to set realistic goals for the journey home or talk about the trends you’re seeing locally that buyers, sellers and everyone else need to know.
  2. Provide a local spotlight. Promote events like winter festivals or farmer’s markets, or talk about your favorite neighborhood restaurants, coffee shops, stores or other amenities you know buyers are looking for right now. Take it further by interviewing the owner or manager so the business can shine.
  3. Share winter wonderland tips. Make sure sellers know that the coldest months of the year can still be a hot time to sell a home. Provide reasons why it’s not always best to wait until spring, give winter curb appeal tips, or showcase your favorite seasonal DIY project.
  4.  “This or That” Home Edition. Compare features like fireplaces vs. heated floors and talk about what’s in and what’s out, compared to years past, for today’s buyers.
  5. Become a homebuying myth buster. Bust common misconceptions about buying in winter, down payments, or a REALTOR®’s role in a transaction. As we’ve said before, we’re all for education, so if you want to do a title edition of truths that need to be spread, we’d love to collaborate.
  6. “What I Wish I Knew About Home Buying.”  Share quick advice for first-time buyers. Not sure how to pull this off? We suggest doing it in an FAQ or checklist format. Another idea would be to introduce your audience to everyone involved in a real estate transaction. As you know, it takes a lot of caring people working together to finish a journey home.
  7. Give winter tips for all homeowners. Provide a seasonal home maintenance checklist, talk about some cold-weather horror stories, or share tips on how to save on energy bills.

We hope this first list of 2025 is one that you’ll save for a while. If you still need some inspiration, remember that customer testimonials, new listings, staff spotlights, or peeks behind the scenes can all be solid content, too. We’re excited to be a part of your success all year, both in person and digitally. Reach out to your favorite branch whenever you need us for your next residential or commercial transaction.
