3 reasons why internal culture is key to your success

Not all title companies are equal. Hopefully, we prove that every time we handle your file, but it’s a thought worth saying out loud. When you choose us as your title and escrow partner, you gain access to an entire company dedicated to being a local partner, a regional powerhouse and a national voice in the real estate world.

Speaking of what makes us tick, we want to highlight some words of wisdom shared by Jenny Martin, one of the leaders of Futura Title & Escrow, our parent company. She recently penned a piece on the importance of company culture, which was shared in the Spring | Summer GSR publication produced by CloseSimple. We were so inspired, we thought we’d share the biggest lessons we took away from Martin’s article that can be applied to any real estate operation.

Martin has a clear take on why a strong culture is so important to all our teams: “(It’s) the true multiplier when it comes to scaling a title company and achieving sustainable growth. It’s not something you say; it’s something you live. And it’s not a ‘nice to have;’ it’s a strategic imperative.”

A strong company culture requires ongoing effort. We don’t mean that in a bad way, either. Showing employees they’re valued is something that sounds simple – and it can be – but it takes an ongoing effort of consistent communication, recognition and engagement at every level, Martin says. Be sure to celebrate team wins and recognize contributions at every opportunity. After all, sometimes the smallest gestures – a handwritten note, granting flexibility and grace when the need arises – can be remembered the most.

Employee buy-in can be your most valuable commodity. It might sound cliché, but the best teams operate with the understanding that “we’re in this together.” Leaders must first establish an environment of transparency and trust. Why? When good employees feel valued, they become your champions of change. Want to roll out a new initiative or program to your customers? Explain the changes to your forward-facing team members first, and let them explain the value to the people they already have relationships with.

Remember that real estate is a people business. We often focus on the external relationships we have with our customers and partners, but Martin says it’s equally important to ensure that our internal relationships among team members are strong. “Peer-to-peer trust, leadership connection and cross-functional collaboration create a culture of support. Remember, it’s the small things that make our employees and customers ‘stick’ to us, so pick up the phone, send the note and smile more often. When you harness the power of relationships, you create a culture that advocates for your brand,” Martin added.

We’ll defer back to Martin for a closing statement on the subject. “When you invest in culture, you’re not just building a better workplace; you’re creating a growth engine fueled by people, purpose and connection.” Thank you for being part of our circle. We appreciate your involvement, and our teams enjoy working together with each of you. Put our industry-trusted expertise and wisdom to use anytime you need us!
