Tips for your next move
To all future homebuyers, we would love to be your title company. Starting a new chapter is always a big move, and our teams are happy to be your perfect match when it comes to title and escrow services.
While we do our best work leading up to your closing day, we also want to make your experience smooth as you transition into this next chapter. That’s why we’re putting together a new list of moving tips anyone would love – whether this is your first move or your fifth.
Stay organized from the start. Keeping everything organized makes the entire moving process easier. Here’s step No. 1: Create a moving binder or digital folder to store important documents like closing paperwork, contracts, receipts and checklists. Label boxes clearly by room and priority (open first, kitchen essentials, fragile), and consider numbering boxes with a simple inventory list.
Start early and declutter as you go. Packing always takes longer than expected, so starting early is one of the easiest ways to reduce moving-day stress. Begin with items you rarely use, such as seasonal décor, items in storage areas and off-season clothing. As you pack in stages, donate, sell or discard anything you no longer need. Fewer belongings mean fewer boxes, lower moving costs and a cleaner start in your new home.
Prepare a “First Night” bag. Moving Day will be exhausting, no matter how much you plan ahead. Know that unpacking everything right away isn’t realistic. Pack a bag with toiletries, chargers, medications, snacks, pajamas and important documents, so you have what you need without digging through boxes. Scheduling a grocery delivery of essentials for you and your family to your new address can also be well worth it for both peace of mind and convenience.
Don’t forget your other transition tasks. As exhausting as it sounds, your move isn’t complete after the last box is unpacked. You don’t have to do these tasks the very next day, but you do need to officially change your address with the Post Office and make sure your utilities are up-to-date and in your correct name. Want to make things even easier? Schedule your utility transfers – electric, gas, water, internet and trash -a week or two before you move, so your new home is ready when you arrive.
Here’s one last bonus tip: Do one final walkthrough of your old place to ensure nothing is left behind. As you can see, a little planning here can prevent last-minute chaos. When you trust our team, you’ve made a great choice! We hope this list makes your move even smoother. Contact us anytime!
