We’re celebrating our Escrow Officers all Home Ownership Month long!

How important is great escrow work to your closing? There are many moving parts behind the scenes that are essential to get a transaction across the finish line. That’s why, during this National Homeownership Month, we’re talking more about the important role of an Escrow Officer.

Your local Escrow Officer has two jobs: getting your deal to the finish line and communicating with you throughout that process.

Here are three of their main responsibilities:

Your Transaction Coordinator. From your accepted offer to the Closing Day, your Escrow Officer keeps all moving parts on track. They serve as a neutral point of contact between you, your lender, your agent and everyone else.

Your Title Verifier. For you to close, we must confirm the property is actually yours to buy. Your Escrow Officer works with others in our Title Department to confirm a clear title – or get it to that state – so the sale moves forward. Even if they don’t dive into the title work themselves, it’s up to them to make sure everything is good to go.

Your Paperwork Pro. We say this a lot. But it’s always worth the reminder. Transactions come with a lot of documents. Your Escrow Officer makes sure everything is prepared, accurate and ready to sign. Once closing is complete, they also handle filing the right documents with the appropriate government offices.

There are plenty of Real Estate professionals who play a role in a smooth journey home, but our Escrow Officers are usually the ones our customers know best. Do you have a favorite one? Give them a shout out on your local branch’s Facebook page or tell them next time you’re around one of our closing tables!
