Remember these ABCs of social media this summer!
For anyone in business – real estate included – improving your social media game should always be a goal. You don’t need to have the flashiest presence in town, but it’s important to be engaged in, and aware of, what’s going on around you.
If you’re looking to build on social this summer, here are three basic ABCs you should keep in mind as you ramp up your efforts, no matter which platforms you’re on.
When you put out cookie-cutter, generalized content with no personal touch, people will respond accordingly. Don’t make your posts all about business. Remember, people want to connect with you as a person. Let the world know when you or your team have news to share and amplify others doing the same. Social media is a community, and real estate professionals should take pride in building all the communities we immerse ourselves in.
OK, that title is a bit of a stretch, but we’re talking all about hashtags with this one. You shouldn’t use too many, or too few, hashtags in your posts. After all, it’s about being authentic and engaged. Researching the most effective hashtags for both real estate and in your local area can potentially pay off big in the long run and lead to greater interactions with your content. (Pro tip: You don’t have to use a certain hashtag in all your posts.)
Seeing an account sporadically post and then disappear for weeks or months doesn’t give people the confidence that you can be counted on. Show up for your audience the same way you would for any area of your business, with quality, consistency and expertise. How do you do this? By creating a plan. It’s one thing to say you want to be better at social media. It’s another to do something about it. Plan out a content calendar and use a social media posting tool if that helps you stay committed.
Social media is a great way to stay connected with friends and customers, and we want you to thrive. Stay connected with us on whichever platform(s) you’re most active on. We can’t wait to see you again – whether it’s around the closing table or hitting a home run on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, or somewhere else.
