Create a clear vision with measured, attainable goals. Let’s talk about setting goals. It’s always important to have a plan. So, what do you want to achieve? What are your team’s strengths and weaknesses? What are the opportunities and challenges in the real estate market? Once you clearly understand these factors, you can start to set goals for your team. Remember, your goals should be SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound). For example, your goal might be to increase your team’s sales by 20% in the next year.
Be a good role model. The best leaders both guide and inspire those around them. By setting a good example, show them what it means to be a successful real estate agent. The old adages about doing, not telling, apply here. Be professional, hardworking and always willing to help others; be someone your team can admire and respect. For example, if you want your team to be more organized, you must be organized yourself first.
Don’t forget to delegate. Being hardworking doesn’t mean doing everything yourself. Delegate tasks to your team members and give them the authority and freedom to make decisions. On the flip side, provide clear expectations and instructions before handing off a task. There’s a fine line between empowering your team and setting them up for failure.
Stay positive and supportive. We talk about this a lot, but it’s important to encourage and celebrate the successes of those around you. Fostering a team environment where everyone feels valued and motivated is key. Be sure to congratulate team members on successful closings and offer constructive feedback for mistakes.
